PLAYBILL: ‘Beaches’ Star Shoshana Bean Sings Soaring Version of “Wind Beneath My Wings”

‘Wicked’ star Shoshana Bean, who can currently be seen in the pre-Broadway engagement of Beaches, the new musical based on the 1985 novel by Iris Rainer Dart, can be heard singing the musical’s best-known song, “Wind Beneath My Wings,” in a new online video.

“Wind Beneath My Wings” was the breakout hit from the film version, which starred Bette Midler. Bean recorded the tune in her dressing room, posting this note on YouTube: “I have had the pleasure of singing this song every night as Cee Cee Bloom in Beaches the musical all summer long at the Drury Lane. So as our run draws to a close I figured it would be an appropriate finale!”
